The School House

The School House is a homely holiday cottage, adjoining the village school set in the pretty village of Little Snoring, just 7 miles from the beautiful and unspoilt North Norfolk coast.

The Accommodation

This holiday cottage began its life as a family home and we still think of it in this way.  We feel that part of its charm lies in the fact that it isn’t like other holiday cottages, instead the character of our extended family is firmly stamped upon it.  We want you to feel as comfortable there as we always have.  We hope you agree that the lower prices reflect this. Dogs and children are not only welcome but positively encouraged!  You are also welcome to use our free WIFI internet access.

The cottage can sleep up to eight in the following beds: 1 double, 2 singles, 1 double futon sofabed and 2 child-size bunk beds.  Duvets, blankets and pillows are all provided.  However we ask you bring your own sheets, duvet-covers and towels.

Please Note: There is no central heating. There are storage heaters upstairs and electric heaters are provided in each room.

Ground Floor

Living Room: This is a small and cosy room, with a double futon, an armchair and a TV and DVD player.  It also has an open fire to enjoy on cold winter nights.

Dining Room: This has always been where we tend to spend our evenings eating, drinking, talking and playing cards, monopoly or scrabble.  There is a large dining table which comfortably seats 8 people.  There is also an open fire, often providing the evening’s entertainment, and two comfy, often-fought-over armchairs.

Toy Room: Leading off the Dining Room is the Toy Room.  This is a small room, packed with cards and boardgames for the grown-ups and a variety of toys and games for the children.

Kitchen: Through the Dining Room is the Kitchen.  We hope you will find everything you need here to cook up a storm.  There is an electric hob and oven, a dishwasher, washing machine, kettle, toaster, microwave, fridge (with an ice box) and all the pots, pans, crockery and cutlery you will need.

First Floor

Master Bedroom: The principle bedroom has a comfortable double-bed, storage facilities and stunning views out over the garden and the surrounding countryside.

Bunk Bedroom: The children’s room has a set of child-size bunk beds (although adults have been known to squeeze into these when necessary.)

The Through Room: This is in fact a twin room with two single beds.  Please be aware that you have to walk through this room to get to the bathroom, so not suitable for those seeking privacy, or preferring an early bedtime!

Bathroom: This is a spacious room, complete with toilet, sink, disabled-access shower and electric-heated towel rail.  Please note that whilst the shower is accessible for people with disabilities, the stairs are quite steep!

Outside

There is an outside toilet, and two outhouses. One contains coal and wood for the fire, which we ask you to replenish after use.  The second contains a selection of old bicycles, in various states and some children’s toys.  You are welcome to use these, but you do so at your own risk.  You will also find crabbing equipment, buckets and spades and some outdoor game facilities.

The Garden is one of the most special features of the house.  Covering over 1/5 of an acre, it is vast enough for mini-games of croquet, cricket, football or rounders.  There is a barbecue and an picnic table provided for evenings when the weather permits dining alfresco.  There are apples to be picked in autumn and champion conkers to be collected as well as fruit bushes at the end of the garden – if you can get there before the birds!
