The School House is a homely holiday cottage, adjoining the village school set in the pretty village of Little Snoring, just 7 miles from the beautiful and unspoilt North Norfolk coast.
This holiday cottage began its life as a family home and we still think of it in this way. We feel that part of its charm lies in the fact that it isn’t like other holiday cottages, instead the character of our extended family is firmly stamped upon it. We want you to feel as comfortable there as we always have. We hope you agree that the lower prices reflect this. Dogs and children are not only welcome but positively encouraged! You are also welcome to use our free WIFI internet access.
The cottage can sleep up six in the following beds: 1 double, two ziplock singles which can be linked to make a double and a set of bunk beds. There is also a sofa bed in the sitting room – but be aware that access to the bathroom is through here, making it unsuitable for those seeking privacy or an early night.
Duvets, blankets and pillows are all provided. However we ask you bring your own sheets, duvet-covers and towels.
Please Note: There is no central heating. We can arrange for the storage heaters to be put on ahead of your arrival. There are also some electric heaters to use as a top up if necessary.
Bedroom 1: This room contains two single beds which can be ziplocked together to form a double. You will find alternative duvets / mattress covers in the drawers either side of the beds.
Dining Room: This has always been where we tend to spend our evenings eating, drinking, talking and playing cards, monopoly or scrabble. There is a large dining table which comfortably seats 8 people. There is also an open fire, often providing the evening’s entertainment, and three armchairs.
Toy Room: Leading off the Dining Room is the Toy Room. This is a small room, packed with cards and boardgames for the grown-ups and a variety of toys and games for the children.
Kitchen: Through the Dining Room is the Kitchen. We hope you will find everything you need here to cook up a storm. There is an electric hob and oven, a dishwasher, washing machine, kettle, toaster, microwave, fridge/freezer and all the pots, pans, crockery and cutlery you will need.
Master Bedroom: The principle bedroom has a comfortable double-bed, storage facilities and stunning views out over the garden and the surrounding countryside.
Bunk Bedroom: The children’s room has a set of bunk beds ( adults have been known to use these when necessary.)
Here you will find a large sofa, arm chairs, TV/DVD player, books, DVDs and lovely views across the fields to the church.
Bathroom: This is a spacious room, complete with a bath / shower, loo, basin and a heated towel rail.
There is an outside loo, and two outhouses. One contains coal and wood for the fire, which we ask you to replenish after use. The second contains children’s toys, which you are welcome to use, but do so at your own risk. You should also find crabbing equipment and buckets and spades.
The Garden is one of the most special features of the house. Covering over 1/5 of an acre, it is vast enough for mini-games of croquet, cricket, football or rounders. There is a picnic table provided for evenings when the weather permits dining alfresco. There are apples to be picked in autumn and champion conkers to be collected as well as fruit bushes at the end of the garden – if you can get there before the birds!
